Griffith Regional Art Gallery has announced the appointment of Melanie Toscan as Coordinator, following the resignation of long-serving Gallery Coordinator, Raymond Wholohan, who held the position for the past 10 years.
Gallery Manager, Marg Andreazza said she was thrilled to welcome Ms Toscan to the role. Ms Toscan has served as the Gallery’s Public Programs Officer for the past three years.
“We were delighted when Melanie applied and was successful in securing the Coordinator role,” Ms Andreazza said.
“She has brought a great deal of energy and creativity to the Gallery and we are confident she will continue to elevate its profile and programming in this new capacity. Melanie has already hit the ground running, curating our current exhibition Bazaar, and is actively planning an exciting exhibition calendar for 2025 and beyond.”
Ms Toscan also shared her excitement about stepping into the new role.
“My time at the Gallery has given me an understanding of our audience and their expectations,” she said.
“I’m looking forward to continuing to work with our community from a fresh perspective and to further expanding the Gallery’s reach and offerings.”
The Gallery is currently showcasing Bazaar, this year’s Community Exhibition, featuring works by several local artists. The exhibition is inspired by the iconic South Yarra fashion boutique ‘Bazaar’, founded by designers John Claringbold and Ross Weymouth. Many of their couture gowns and garments, now part of the Gallery’s Couture Collection, are also on display.
Bazaar is open to the public until Saturday, 15 June.
