Bathurst Regional Council has received $300,000 in funding from the NSW Government’s 2025-26 Public Library Infrastructure Grants program for a new mobile library van.
Mayor, Robert Taylor, thanked the Government for the funding, saying the new library van would improve outreach services to Bathurst’s rural villages, schools and home library users.
“It will also function as an engaging pop-up service at local events to support community connection and access to library services for the next decade,” the Mayor said.
“This new van will bolster existing outreach services and further Council’s aim of reducing access barriers, promoting literacy and digital equity, and fostering social inclusion. By bringing the library directly to the people, whether that’s through supporting older adults, people with disabilities, or students at our village schools, this service strengthens our growing community while helping assess future library needs for our region.”
The Mayor said the Bathurst Mobile Library Van initiative reflects Council’s commitment to innovation, equity and community wellbeing and is designed for long-term sustainability, with operational integration into Bathurst Library’s core services and ongoing financial support from Council and State Government funding.
