Ballina Shire Council is inviting the community to celebrate the opening of a new dog off-leash park on Gap Road in Alstonville.
Council Manager of Public and Environmental Health, Kerri Watts said the new off-leash area featured an agility park for pooches.
“We are inviting local residents to come along and test out the new agility equipment, chat with our friendly rangers, learn dog training tips from a local dog trainer, try out the agility equipment, and grab a free coffee and a puppuccino treat,” said Ms Watts.
“This new dog off-leash area will be a dedicated space for our community’s dogs to play and socialise safely. This event is a wonderful opportunity for residents to explore the park’s new features and engage with our local rangers.”
Community members attending the doggy day out from 9.30am and 12.30pm on Saturday 10 August can look forward to:
- Meeting Council’s rangers and learning more about their important work in the community;
- Enjoying a free mini-session with a professional dog trainer, offering tips and advice for better training and behaviour management;
- Trying out the new agility equipment, designed to challenge and entertain dogs of all sizes and skill levels;
- Collect free desexing vouchers, supporting responsible pet ownership in the community;
- Treating themselves to a free coffee and puppucino.
“We’ve designed this event to be fun and informative for both dogs and their owners. It’s a great way to foster a sense of community and promote responsible pet care,” said Ms Watts.
The project was funded by the NSW Government in association with the Council.
