Western Australia’s Shire of Murray Council has launched a youth activities calendar for 2024.
A stack of activities ranging from skate park sausage sizzles, yoga, health and wellbeing workshops, art programs, virtual reality and more will be on offer for Murray youth at a range of locations across the Shire.
Shire President, David Bolt said one of the Shire’s key focus areas was ‘People’, ensuring the community enjoys excellent health, wellbeing and quality of life.
“In the recent community survey, young people expressed a need for safe and affordable spaces to socialise, along with wanting to see more youth activities and events in the Murray region,” he said.
“This exciting calendar of activities has been developed to support our youth, the future of Murray.
“It has been fantastic to work with students from all the Murray schools at recent Youth Forums to hear their ideas. Many of these upcoming activities have been designed by them and it’s promising to be a great mix of events and programs.”
The third Youth Forum facilitated by the Council was held today (pictured), with more than 60 students from local schools. At the forums, the students planned and presented ideas to a panel of judges. Council says the winning ideas will be brought to life in collaboration with the Shire and students as part of Youth Week in April.
