Moonee Valley council a top workplace for women

Moonee Valley City Council has been named one of Australia’s best workplaces for women.

It is the third consecutive year the Council has received the Work180 accolade, which measures employer performance across a range of diversity, equity and inclusion criteria.

The Council came in at 105th place for female leadership, with 32% of women in senior leadership, 56% female staff and 68% women in the organisation.

Women make up two-thirds of the Moonee Valley workforce and hold more than half of all people manager positions. In 2025, the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and CEO are all women.

“In my role as Mayor, I am privileged to meet many Moonee Valley women whose hard work makes our City a great place to live, work and play,” said Mayor, Ava Adams.

“I also see male allies using their platforms to advocate for gender equity.

“Working together to create an environment in which women can thrive doesn’t just benefit women and girls – it makes our community a better place for everyone.”

Council CEO, Helen Sui said the achievement was evidence of Council’s commitment to creating a supportive environment where everyone can thrive.

“As a female CEO, I am proud to lead a team that champions diversity, inclusion, and the advancement of women in the workplace,” she said.

“Together, we are building a future where women can lead, innovate, and inspire. Let’s continue to lift each other up and drive change.”
