Monitor appointed to Hobsons Bay council

The Victorian Government has appointed municipal monitor, John Tanner AM, to Hobsons Bay City Council for the next six months.

Mr Tanner will be working with Council two to three days a week starting from Monday 2 June. His appointment will continue until 31 December.

His main function will be to advise and provide relevant assistance to Council to improve its governance, processes and practices following the appointment of a new executive team. This builds on the extensive work already undertaken across Council by staff and the new executive, the Council said in a statement.

“Council is committed to continuing to deliver excellent services to its community, and to ensuring the health and wellbeing of its staff,” Council stated.

“Council acknowledges it is undergoing a period of transformation, and all staff, executive and councillors will provide Mr Tanner any support and assistance he requires during his time as municipal monitor to help it on that journey.”
