The series Community Cyber Security Training events will take place across the region starting on Monday 7 July:

  • Ouyen Library – Thursday 10 July from 5.30pm
  • Murrayville Sports Hub – Friday 11 July from 1.30pm
  • Underbool-Linga Memorial Hall – Friday 11 July from 5.30pm

Councillor for Community Development and Gender Equity, Katie Clements said the interactive training sessions aimed to help residents recognise common cyber threats and their impact on individuals.

“The sessions will also focus on understanding the importance of making the internet a safe place by implementing basic cyber security practices in line with the ‘Act Now. Stay Secure’ campaign, while applying learnings to every day digital interactions,” Cr Clements said.

“The internet holds a world of potential interactions that can positively connect people and interests no matter how remote we live.

“While enjoying online communication, it is vital community members are aware of risks that can have a negative effect. This is a great chance to develop that greater understanding of the digital world.”

These sessions are being provided thanks to funding from the Commonwealth’s Cyber Security Awareness Support for Vulnerable Groups Grant.
