Liverpool goes for green and gold

Sydney’s Liverpool City Council is showing its support for local manufacturers by officially joining the Australian Made Campaign as a Campaign Supporter.

Mayor, Ned Mannoun said Liverpool continues to emerge as a manufacturing powerhouse in the region, with an increasing number of businesses choosing the area as their base.

“Council is passionate about supporting local manufacturing and it is evident to anyone driving through Prestons, Moorebank and other large industrial parks in the area that Liverpool has assumed its place as a major manufacturing hub in South West Sydney,” said Mayor Mannoun.

“Liverpool boasts a varied portfolio of industry including components and equipment manufacturing, food manufacturing and related distribution/packaging, construction related manufacturing as well as newly emerging health equipment and technology related manufacturing.

“The power of the Australian Made logo is immense – not only does lit demonstrate support for our local industry and its workers but it gives the assurance of quality that comes with locally-made products.”

Mayor Mannoun said the partnership was a great opportunity for local businesses to get on board with Australia’s most recognised and trusted country of origin brand – the iconic gold and green kangaroo triangle.

“And we are delighted to be a part of it,” he said.

Australian Made Campaign Chief Executive, Ben Lazzaro said the partnership means that the City of Liverpool has pledged to support the activities of Australian manufacturers and growers in its municipality.

“Australian Made is thrilled to partner with The City of Liverpool,” said Mr Lazzaro.

“The city has chosen to leverage the power of the Australian Made logo to actively demonstrate its support for local industry.

“Every time you buy an Australian Made-branded product you’re not just helping that business, but all the businesses across the supply chain, and most importantly, the local people that they employ.”

Sydney’s new airport and aerotropolis city will also feature an Agri Food Precinct and Advanced Manufacturing hub all located within Liverpool LGA as well as strategic sectors of Liverpool include medical engineering, technology and construction and military.

Mr Lazzaro said the COVID-19 pandemic had brought the many benefits of buying Australian Made into sharp focus, with consumers and businesses exercising their preference for Aussie products more than ever.

This pro-Australian sentiment also presents an opportunity for Aussie manufacturers to expand their markets both at home and abroad, he said.

“As Australia’s only registered country of origin certification trademark, the logo is the true mark of Aussie authenticity and is central to the domestic and export strategies of many Liverpool businesses,” said Mr Lazzaro.

General Manager, Jason Mikosic said he was proud to display the Australian Made Logo on the company’s egg incubators and truck mudguard mounting chassis pipes for local and overseas clients.

“We have been a family operated business for over 40 years and are proud to be associated with a strong, trusted brand,” he said.

Recent Roy Morgan research revealed trust in the iconic Australian Made kangaroo logo is at an all-time high, with 99% of Australians recognising the green and gold Australian Made logo, 97% associating it with the support of local jobs and employment opportunities, 95% with safe and high-quality products, 89% with the use of ethical labour and 78% with sustainability.
