Liverpool council commits to historic new city plan

Liverpool City Council and Bradfield Development Authority (BDA) have today committed to Bradfield City Centre’s future, signing an agreement that formalises collaborative leadership on the delivery of Australia’s first new city in 100 years.

Located on the doorstep of the new Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport in the Liverpool Local Government Area, Bradfield City is set to deliver 20,000 jobs, 10,000 homes and 36 hectares of open space.

The agreement will help oversee the management of new local infrastructure and services in Bradfield as the city evolves, as well as making the most of public and private investment in the Aerotropolis and wider Liverpool community, said Liverpool City Council Mayor, Ned Mannoun.

“We welcome Bradfield City into the Liverpool Local Government Area,” said Mayor Mannoun (pictured, right).

“Liverpool City Council and Bradfield Development Authority have committed to support Council’s vision of Liverpool as a vibrant global city of lifestyle and opportunity.”

“Community and business will benefit from the aligned approach, resulting in the development of homes and a world-class city supporting jobs and opportunities for the future.”

“We look forward to our collaborative leadership, as Bradfield City continues to progress, offering great opportunities for the future and for our diverse communities in the Liverpool region.”

Bradfield Development Authority Chair, Jennifer Westacott AO said the partnership with Liverpool City Council was critical to the task of delivering Bradfield.

“Advanced manufacturing, technological innovation and investment attraction will be core to Bradfield’s success and become part of Liverpool’s ongoing economic growth story,” said Ms Westacott.

“What we’re creating in Bradfield is a place that will deliver more jobs, more growth, and better outcomes for Western Sydney, leveraging the new 24/7 WSI opening late next year.”

Through the Local Manufacturing mission, Bradfield City Centre aims to build a dynamic, sustainable, and resilient economy driven by innovation, productivity, strong supply chains, and sovereign capability.
