Light Regional Council farewells long-serving CEO

Light Regional Council is farewelling Chief Executive Officer, Richard Dodson after more than 15 years of dedicated leadership and service.

Mr Dodson (pictured) will conclude his time with Council at the end of September.

Mayor, Bill Close said Mr Dodson’s contribution to the organisation had been both transformative and enduring.

“Richard has had an incredible impact since joining Light 15 years ago. He has overseen the renewal of many of our older townships into modern community hubs, championed the sealing of our rural strategic road network, and secured millions of dollars in grant funding to deliver these outcomes,” the Mayor said.

“Richard is an exceptional leader whose vision and commitment will be felt long after his departure. On behalf of all Elected Members, I sincerely thank him for everything he has given to this Council and our region.”

Reflecting on his time, Mr Dodson said it felt like the right time to take a well-earned break before embarking on the next chapter of
his career.

“I am extremely proud of what has been achieved here, and during the 25th anniversary of the ‘Light Regional Council’ name, I was struck by just how much has changed during my tenure,” he said.

“The landscape and the community are very different now, and I feel privileged to have been part of that journey. I would like to thank everyone who has supported me during my time here – it has been both humbling and rewarding.”

Council will shortly embark upon the recruitment process for a new Chief Executive Officer. An interim CEO will be appointed and commence following Mr Dodson’s departure on 26 September.
