Last chance for veterans funding program

The Queensland Government is encouraging eligible veteran organisations to apply for the inaugural Honouring our Veterans program, with funding available for upgrades to memorials and community events.

Ex-service organisations, schools and community groups can apply for the new grants, which will ensure the service and stories of veterans and their families are preserved and recognised across Queensland.

Grants can be used for building improvements, creating or refurbishing war memorials, avenues of honour, memorial gardens, and buying equipment, as well as events, activities, and initiatives which honour our veterans.

“We are delivering a plan for Queensland’s future, and more support to ensure our brave veterans and their families are recognised and remembered,” said Premier, David Crisafulli.

“This Remembrance Day we are honouring veterans who have given up so much and these grants are about giving back.

“We are backing veterans and their families with practical support like events, as well as improved memorials, to ensure our heroes are honoured into the future in communities across Queensland.

“While we are delivering a plan for veterans, there is much more to be done to deliver for Queensland’s future, and we remain committed to delivering the fresh start we promised.”

The Honouring our Veterans program will deliver $6 million in grants over four years, and applications for 2025 close this Friday 14 November.

The Crisafulli Government is also developing the State’s first Queensland Veterans and Veterans’ Families Strategy to identify emerging needs and boost support, with public consultation concluding this week.

Face-to-face forums will take place in Toowoomba tomorrow (12 November), and Brisbane on Friday (14 November), while the online survey also closes on 14 November.
