Kingston ratepayers asked to make ‘Room 4 a Roomie’

Kingston District Council is looking into shared accommodation as a solution to the area’s housing shortage.

“We are partnering with Ray White Kingston to match potential tenants with suitable accommodation,” the Council said in a statement.

“Think security, income, community connection, affordability and companionship.”

The Council is currently surveying its ratepayer base to find out who might have ‘Room 4 a Roomie’.

The survey asks residents if they have a private room, granny flat, farmhouse or holiday home that could be used by those in need of somewhere to live.

“Should there be sufficient interest to progress this initiative, interested property owners will be invited to attend a meeting to obtain more information,” the Council said.
