City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder Council has announced registrations are now open for its inaugural Early Childhood Education and Care Conference, Growing Together, which is set to take place on Saturday, 26 October.
The event is part of the Goldfields Professional Development Project and is being made possible through grant funding from the Department of Communities’ Attraction and Retention Packages for Childcare Educators Program.
The project is being delivered by the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder in collaboration with the Shires of Coolgardie and Leonora, with support from the Goldfields-Esperance Development Commission and Central Regional TAFE.
The conference will kick off a week-long professional development series for early childhood and care educators, running from 26 October to 1 November 2024. In addition to the flagship event, a range of follow-up sessions will be held across the Goldfields, including an autism awareness evening in Kalgoorlie-Boulder on 29 October 2024.
“As a father, I understand how essential it is to support our early childhood educators. This conference is not just about training; it’s about empowering the people who are shaping our children’s futures,” said Mayor, Glenn Wilson.
“Local services have told us how crucial it is to provide meaningful professional development for their educators. This event is our way of ensuring that those who care for our youngest residents get the tools and support they need.
“I’m proud that the City, with the help of the State Government, is able to bring together some of the best experts from Perth and the Goldfields to share their knowledge on topics like behaviour management, Aboriginal language, and wellbeing for educators.
“This is an opportunity for learning, connecting, and growing together as a community. I encourage everyone working in early childhood education to register early and take full advantage of this valuable experience,” he said.
Registrations close on Friday, 19 October 2024. The events are free and open to all Early Childhood Education and Care educators from Kalgoorlie-Boulder, Coolgardie, and Leonora.
