Hume health and wellbeing draft plan released

Residents, service providers and community groups are being invited to have their say on Hume City Council’s Draft Health and Wellbeing Plan 2021-2025.

The draft plan outlines how Council will work alongside the community over the next four years to protect and improve the health and wellbeing of local people.

“Our Draft Health and Wellbeing Plan 2021-2025 embraces a holistic view of health and wellbeing that recognises the important role of family, community and environments,” said Mayor, Carly Moore.

“It is a plan for the whole community and describes how we want to create a city where every person can lead a healthy, happy and fulfilling life.

“Importantly, it acknowledges the financial, social and psychological toll the COVID-19 pandemic has had on our community and how Council can support our collective recovery.”

The draft plan identifies eight priority areas for healthy change and improvement including mental health and wellbeing, healthy and respectful relationships, children and young people, climate change, housing, gambling harm minimisation, healthy eating and active living and reduced tobacco use and exposure.

Community feedback on the draft plan is open until 29 January 2022 and will help ensure it represents the health and wellbeing priorities and needs of the community.

“As we look to a new year ahead, it is the perfect time to reflect on how we can create more positive health outcomes in the years ahead.”

“You can provide your feedback by simply taking part in a short online survey or in writing – hard-copies of the survey are available at a number of Council facilities across Hume City,” the Mayor said.
