Hume City to host business masterclasses

Entrepreneurs and start-up businesses in Hume can soak up the wealth of knowledge of industry professionals through a new program presented by co-working space, StartNorth, Hume City Council said today.

“Hume City Council is pleased to have been a part of the establishment and growth of many businesses within our community,” says Hume Mayor, Carly Moore.

“I encourage local businesses to take up this opportunity to attend these free masterclasses to learn new skills needed to reach their next business goal and connect with like-minded people.

“This is an opportunity to create real growth after COVID-19, with the help of world-class industry leaders.”

The Start and Grow program consists of two components: providing resources to people to grow their business and supporting people to start a business.

The first component will lead existing businesses through eight free masterclasses from May to July 2022. The topics range from recovering or restarting a business to marketing and brand awareness, and setting up finances. Participants can choose to attend those that will benefit them and their business.

From August to September 2022, budding entrepreneurs can also attend a program designed to support business creation, through a mix of classes and mentoring.

Those participating in the program will be offered a free co-working space at StartNorth for five months.

Eligible businesses will also have the opportunity to pitch their business to receive grant funding by StartNorth to grow their business.

The Start and Grow program has been made possible with the support of the Broadmeadows Revitalisation Board and $100,000 funding from the Victorian Government.
