Hobart to consult on new strategy for city’s economy

City of Hobart Council is developing a new City Economy Strategy to identify, promote and capitalise on the ‘Hobart Difference’ for the benefit of all those who live, work and do business in the city.

The Council says the work will set the vision and the pathways that will position Hobart for future social and economic prosperity and enable businesses and residents to respond to and thrive from the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

Hobart City Economy Portfolio Chair, Louise Bloomfield said the new strategy would help ensure the City continues to support a more prosperous, innovative and inclusive economy.

“We need to examine the new challenges and consider how to create a sustainable and resilient economic future,” said Cr Bloomfield.

“To prepare our new strategy, we have produced a discussion paper to test ideas, learnings, proposed actions and priorities that have been gathered from stakeholder engagement and research to date.”

She said the document was intended to prompt conversations about the proposed strategic priorities to ensure they are both appropriate and achievable in meeting the future needs of the City of Hobart.

“We look forward to hearing from businesses big and small, employers, workers and our wider community as we create a plan for a resilient, sustainable and fair economy.”

“I would encourage everyone to view the discussion paper and share your thoughts thorough the survey which is available through the City of Hobart Your Say website.”
