Hills Shire honours local business

Sydney’s Hills Shire Council has honoured local businesses at this week’s 2022 Sydney Hills Local Business Awards.

Mayor, Peter Gangemi said this year’s Awards were particularly special following what has been a difficult two years of pandemic restrictions.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity to acknowledge our local businesses and thank them for their contribution to supporting local jobs and The Hills economy, as well as adding to the overall vibrancy of this region and making it a desirable place to live,” he said.

The annual awards, which The Hills Shire Council supported as a major partner in 2022, recognises Hills businesses doing exceptional work.

Four special awards were handed out on the night, including the new Disability Inclusion Award, which Council partnered with Precedent Productions – the award organiser – to introduce.

The Stage Door Performing Arts secured this award for their commitment to enrich the lives and dance abilities of all its students, including those with special needs and individual learning differences, Council said in a statement.

“Council works hard to ensure we create a community that is inclusive and accessible for everyone, and we are very proud to acknowledge The Stage Door Performing Arts, who promotes these ideals,” Mayor Gangemi said.

Meanwhile, Choice Paper took out Business of the Year, Michael Graham from MGP Civil Contractors was awarded Business Person of the Year and the Youth Award was handed to Angela Muhvich from Velvet Parlour Hair and Beauty.

“I am incredibly proud of our business community and our many business leaders who continually strive for excellence in their respective field,” Mayor Gangemi said.

“On behalf of The Hills Shire Council, I congratulate all our 2022 Sydney Hills Local Business Award nominees and winners and wish them every success in their future endeavours,” he added.

Another 29 category awards were also handed out as part of the night’s activities.
