Greater Shepparton mall takes shape

Greater Shepparton’s Maude Street Mall redevelopment continues to take shape, Parliamentary Secretary for Regional Victoria, Danielle Green said today after visiting the mall precinct to view progress on the project.

The works received $3.75 million from the Victorian Government’s Regional Infrastructure Fund – Stimulus Round.

The revamp of the central community hub includes new events areas, a playground, outdoor seating and public art. New gardens and more trees will also be planted.

“Once complete, the Maude Street Mall will drive more locals and visitors to Shepparton and provide long-lasting benefits,” she said.

“The Maude Street mall redevelopment is creating dozens of jobs now and will deliver big benefits for local businesses in the years to come.

“We’re investing in projects that help Shepparton become an even better place to live and work.”

Works are on track for completion in November, with construction on the new playground at Fraser Street underway. A new one-way road, car parking bays and better pedestrian access are also part of the plan aimed at bringing more people into the Shepparton CBD.

Construction is expected to create more than 50 direct and indirect jobs, with almost 300 additional retail-related positions expected to be available after the project is completed.

The $17.15 million project is being delivered in partnership with the Commonwealth Government and City of Greater Shepparton Council, which engaged the local community during the planning stage.
