Frankston City Council has welcomed the Victorian Government’s 2025–26 State Budget, which will deliver critical funding to support local community infrastructure projects across the region.
Frankston City Mayor, Kris Bolam said the funding is a win for the community and a demonstration of what can be achieved through multi-government partnerships.
“These projects have long been priorities for Council and our community. We’re grateful that the Victorian Government has recognised their importance, and we sincerely thank our local Members of Parliament – Hon Sonya Kilkenny MP (Carrum), Paul Edbrooke MP (Frankston) and Paul Mercurio MP (Hastings) – for championing these initiatives on behalf of Frankston City,” he said.
The Victorian Government has announced it will invest:
- $240,000 towards a local level play space upgrade at Heritage Reserve in Skye;
- $226,000 for the Peninsula Reserve Sports Lighting Upgrade;
- $250,000 for the Frankston Park Changeroom Upgrade.
The Heritage Reserve play space upgrade has been on Council’s State Budget submission list in previous years, with the community having its say on concept design earlier this year.
Council says the upgrade will transform the space into a safe, engaging, and accessible area for children and families in Skye to enjoy. Alongside the Victorian Government, Frankston City Council will contribute $210,000 towards the project, which is now fully funded.
The Peninsula Reserve Sports Lighting upgrade will see the installation of new sports lighting to improve safety and enable extended training times for the Frankston Raiders Rugby League Club and other local users. The project is now fully funded, with Frankston City Council allocating $227,000.
The Frankston Park Changeroom upgrade will provide inclusive, female-friendly facilities in line with Sport and Recreation Victoria and AFL guidelines. With co-funding from Council ($400,000) and the AFL ($100,000), the new changerooms will support growing female participation in football and cater to a wide range of users, including Frankston Football Club, AFLW, the MPFNL women’s teams, Reclink competitions, SEDA College students, and regional events.
Council sought funding towards these important changeroom upgrades through its Frankston City First federal election campaign, with this State Government funding enabling the project to proceed.
