Ex-Brisbane CEO appointed Toowoomba interim CEO

Former Brisbane City Council CEO, Colin Jensen, has been appointed interim Acting Chief Executive at Toowoomba Regional Council.

Toowoomba Mayor, Geoff McDonald said Council had appointed Mr Jensen (pictured) while the organisation progresses recruitment efforts for a new CEO.

“Recruiting a new CEO is often a lengthy process and it’s important we take the necessary time to find the best possible person for this organisation and for this community,” the Mayor said.

“To ensure we’re well-placed during this transition we’ve appointed Colin as an Interim Acting CEO and we’re confident someone of his calibre will continue to progress us in the right direction.

“The next three months are crucial for this organisation as we address the financial pressures on the current budget and plan for the adoption of our 2025/26 budget.

“As the former CEO of the largest local government organisation in Australia, Colin has experience managing an annual budget of $4.3 billion, serving a population of 1.3 million.

“Colin has also held a number of senior roles in the Queensland Government and will bring invaluable knowledge to Council.”

Mayor McDonald said Mr Jensen had expressed his affinity to the region and was looking forward to making a positive difference.

“This is a wonderful part of Australia and one that I’m quite familiar with,” Mr Jensen said.

“I’m excited about this opportunity and will do everything I can to leave a meaningful mark on the organisation.”

While welcoming Mr Jensen to Toowoomba Regional Council, Mayor McDonald thanked staff who had taken on extra responsibility over the past few months.

Mr Jensen will start in the interim role on Monday 24 February.
