WA’s Eastern Metropolitan Regional Council (EMRC) has been awarded the 2024 Local Government / Regional Council winner for Waste Management Initiatives at the Waste Authority’s Waste Sorted 2024 Awards gala dinner.
The Council says the recognition by the WA Government’s Waste Authority highlights its unwavering commitment to sustainability and its comprehensive strategy to demonstrate Circular Economy leadership, minimise environmental impact, and create value for the communities it serves.
EMRC Councillor, Aaron Bowman said the award was “a testament to the Council’s dedication to creating a sustainable future for community through innovative waste management practices”.
“The EMRC’s sustainability strategy is not just a plan but a reflection of the organisation’s culture and values,” said EMRC CEO, Marcus Geisler.
“The surpluses of our activities are reinvested into community-owned circularity infrastructure as well as education and engagement programs.
“This accolade is a fantastic recognition of the hard work and dedication of the entire EMRC team, and we are proud to be acknowledged by the Waste Authority.”
He said the award underscores the significant impact the EMRC is making in waste management and sustainability, reinforcing its role as a leader in the Circular Economy space in WA.
