South Australia’s City of Playford Council will this week unveil designs for the final stage of the $12 million transformation of Stebonheath Road.
Newly released designs show a rebuilt carriageway, roundabouts at key intersections, indented car parking, bus bays and a shared pedestrian and cycling path flanked by street trees and verges.
Work on the final stage of the project between Curtis and Fradd East roads in Munno Para West is set to begin in the coming weeks.
City of Playford Mayor, Glen Docherty said Stebonheath Road will be transformed to make it easier and safer to use for drivers, pedestrians and cyclists.
“It will complete the project which began with upgrades between Roseworthy Drive and Curtis Road, Andrews Farm,” Mayor Docherty said.
“This is a significant project which will help meet the demand of a rapidly growing community. Work will benefit local residents and visitors.”
Stebonheath Road is used by more than 8,000 vehicles a day and is on a major bus route.
Preliminary work will begin in February with the relocation of underground services followed by the construction of the road. The project is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
