Victorian Electoral Commissioner, Sven Bluemmel, is urging anyone planning to nominate as a candidate for this year’s local council election to act now and lodge their nomination before tomorrow’s deadline at 12 noon.
“To successfully nominate, candidates must make an appointment with the election manager to lodge their nomination forms before 12 noon on Tuesday 17 September. Late nominations cannot be accepted,” Mr Bluemmel said.
“I want to encourage anyone thinking about standing for election, to make sure they have completed all the necessary paperwork and the online candidate training through Local Government Victoria before they meet with the election manager to lodge their nomination forms.
“To make it easy we recommend you use our Candidate Helper to guide you through the nomination process and save you time at the election office,” he said.
To finalise the nomination, prospective candidates must make an appointment at an election office in the council they’re nominating in. To make an appointment call 131 832.
