Tasmania’s Central Coast Council is inviting the community to help shape what comes next for two well-loved Penguin destinations – the Johnsons Beach Precinct and the Visitor Information Centre.
Stage 1 consultation will run from now until 15 December, with engagement focused on gathering big-picture ideas and community values. This early input will help guide future design briefs and ensure the next phase reflects the needs of locals, visitors and the wider region.
“This is an exciting opportunity to reimagine key parts of Penguin and ensure they continue to serve both locals and visitors well into the future,” said Council Director Strategic Growth, Daryl Connelly.
“Before any design work begins, we want to hear what people love about these places, what could be improved, and what aspirations they have for what comes next. This early consultation is really about ensuring we get the scope right, before we engage any consultants.”
Community members can explore project details and provide feedback via Council’s My Central Coast engagement platform. A combined community drop-in session will also be held on Monday 1 December, from 11am to 7pm at the Penguin Senior Citizens’ Club, offering an opportunity for locals to share their thoughts in person.
Feedback from this stage will help shape the broad design direction for both projects and ensure future plans reflect community priorities, local character and visitor needs. Further rounds of consultation will involve seeking feedback on and refining, design options.
