Snowy Monaro Regional Council has issued a statement condemning the actions of a resident who it says abused a local pool staff member over COVID-19 entry requirements at the facility.
“This morning a member of the Jindabyne community abused a staff member over the NSW Government’s requirement to be double vaccinated and wear a mask at Jindabyne Pool,” Council said.
“Abuse of Council employees will not be tolerated.
“This behaviour takes the focus of our employees away from the priority of swimmer safety while they deal with unreasonable people who are unable to accept NSW Government mandated regulations.
“Council requests that patrons respect our staff and the regulations mandated by the NSW Government.”
Current state government-mandated requirements for indoor recreation facilities, which includes the Jindabyne Swimming Pool, mean attendees must be fully vaccinated and show proof, must check in using the QR code and wear a mask when indoors and not exercising or in the pool.
