Better accessibility, improved sustainability and a versatile design to support a range activities are all part of Blue Mountains City Council’s $3.5 million Lomatia Park clubhouse upgrade, which has now begun the next phase of construction.
The upgrade will replace the existing aged and outdated clubhouse with a new, improved building and facilities including accessible change rooms, a first aid room, kitchen and kiosk.
The works also includes landscaping, new pathways to improve accessibility, installation of a solar power system and a new maintenance shed.
The cricket nets will be relocated, providing a more efficient layout, capable of accommodating multiple activities.
Council has worked closely with key user groups over the past few months to create temporary storage facilities, relocate equipment and manage any disruptions to use.
“Lomatia Park has long been a hub for various sporting activities, such as cricket, softball, and dog agility and obedience clubs, as well as outdoor fitness clubs and school groups,” said Mayor, Mark Greenhill.
“This project is a great opportunity to revitalise and modernise the facilities. We are grateful to the user groups of Lomatia Park for their invaluable feedback and assistance in moving this project forward.”
The planned upgrades will not only improve existing amenities but also ensure inclusivity and compliance with modern standards, the Mayor said.
“We are committed to creating spaces that cater to the diverse needs of our community and improve access to quality sport, recreation, and community facilities.”
The project is set for completion in December, weather permitting.
The $3.5 million project is funded by the NSW Government’s Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants Program.
