Construction of a new Station Street Mall for Blaxland in the Blue Mountains local government area is set to begin midyear, marking a significant milestone in the revitalisation of the Blaxland town centre.
The project will transform the existing pedestrian thoroughfare into a more vibrant, accessible and welcoming public space, creating a new central town square for the community. Works will include new paving and accessibility improvements, enhanced lighting and seating, tree planting and landscaping, improved signage and wayfinding, and public art.
Construction is expected to continue into early 2027, with every effort made to minimise disruption and maintain safe access around the site while works are underway.
Blue Mountains Mayor, Mark Greenhill said residents and traders will see temporary fencing and changed pedestrian routes while the
work is underway.

“When complete, these upgrades will deliver a more welcoming and vibrant town centre that supports local businesses and creates a better place to meet, spend time and hold community events,” Mayor Greenhill said.
To support residents and local businesses during construction, Council says it will host weekly drop-in information sessions at Blaxland Library throughout the construction period. Community members are also encouraged to drop in to ask questions, receive updates and stay
informed about progress, timing and upcoming works.

“The NSW Government is spending more than $3.38 million to improving the liveability of Blaxland,” said State Member for the Blue Mountains, Trish Doyle.
“I congratulate Blue Mountains City Council for their successful funding application and look forward to seeing those works make Blaxland a more vibrant and bustling place for residents’ and tourists alike.”
The Western Sydney Infrastructure Grant-funded project is a key action identified in the Blaxland Masterplan. While it supports the broader vision, it is being delivered as a separate project with its own funding and timeline.
