Community volunteers honoured at annual awards

WESTERN AUSTRALIA

The outstanding efforts of volunteers from local advisory and emergency services groups were celebrated at the City of Rockingham Council’s 2023 Volunteer Celebration, which was held at the Gary Holland Community Centre last Wednesday.

More than 120 volunteers from 14 advisory committees and 12 emergency service groups were acknowledged at the annual celebration.

During the event, each committee and emergency service were formally recognised by the City of Rockingham, and the City’s emergency services were presented on stage with a special trophy in recognition of their work.

Mayor, Deb Hamblin said volunteers were the heart of the community and thanked them for their continued efforts to make Rockingham a better place.

“Each year the City proudly hosts its Volunteer Celebration to salute the commitment and passion that so many volunteers from our advisory groups and emergency services demonstrate every day,” Mayor Hamblin said.

“Our community is fortunate to have so many volunteers who dedicate their time to worthy causes. Without their support, many of the things we take for granted in our community would cease to exist.

“On behalf of the City we thank all of our volunteers for their continued efforts. They are a shining example of what it means to give back.”
