Georges River Council is inviting the community to have their say on the draft Penshurst Public Domain Plan, which outlines a long-term vision to create a safer, greener and more accessible town centre.
The draft Plan proposes improvements for public spaces, streets, and green areas in Penshurst – which has one of the largest populations in the Georges River area – with the aim of supporting growth and keeping the area a vibrant place to live, work visit, and enjoy.
The draft Plan focuses on key streets and areas – Penshurst Street, Victoria Avenue, Bridge Street, The Strand, and the Connelly Street carpark.
Mayor, Elise Borg said community feedback is essential to shaping the final plan.
“Penshurst is a busy and growing centre. We want to make sure it continues to be a safe, welcoming and attractive place for our community,” Mayor Borg said.
“This draft Plan shows what we’ve heard from residents and local businesses. Now, we’re asking the community to take the next step and help us refine it.”
The draft Plan has been informed by community input gathered in 2025, with residents and local businesses sharing their top priorities – safer streets, better traffic flow, more greenery, cleaner areas, and more places to sit and gather.
The Council said these insights, along with technical studies, have guided the proposed changes.
Submissions close on 31 August. Council says all feedback will be reviewed and used to refine the Plan before it is finalised.
