Clarence Valley residents are being encouraged to make a submission on a draft Clarence Valley Cultural Strategy 2036, which is now on public exhibition.
The Clarence Valley Cultural Strategy 2036 was developed in collaboration with the community, and will guide Council’s role in supporting arts, heritage and culture across the region over the next 10 years.
The Council says culture is central to how people connect, how communities express who they are and how places thrive.
Five key parts of the cultural ecology of the Clarence Valley have been identified as pillars of the Cultural Strategy. These pillars are: First Nations Arts and Culture, Festivals and events, Creative careers, Places, spaces & Country, and Community.
Council General Manager, Laura Black said the values in the Strategy reflect a shared commitment between Clarence Valley Council and our community.
“We are committed to working with the community to develop actions, review priorities and ensure the Strategy remains responsive to community needs over time,” she said.
“During development of the Strategy, it was clear the community sees Council playing different roles in supporting culture. The Cultural Strategy 2036 brings further clarity to what Council already offers, and how it can work strategically with the community and partners to achieve the vision.”
The draft document is on exhibition now until 4pm, Friday 19 June.
