City of Melville Council has given local Booragoon sporting clubs a $1.37 million boost, with upgraded changerooms officially opened at Karoonda Reserve to support female participation.
The changeroom upgrades include universal and gender neutral access to toilets, showers and change rooms, along with two extra storerooms and a new umpires’ room, which all align with the Council’s goal of providing multipurpose facilities that encourage healthy lifestyles and wellbeing.
“It’s so pleasing to see the completion of the upgraded changerooms at Karoonda Reserve, which will meet the growing membership of the sporting clubs, in line with our goal of providing multipurpose facilities that encourage healthy lifestyles and wellbeing,” said Mayor, Katy Mair.
“The City is appreciative of the Australian Government’s $100,000 commitment through the Investing in Our Communities Program towards this $1.37 million project.
“By providing universal and gender neutral access to toilets, showers and changeroom spaces in this upgraded building, is a great outcome to meet growing female participation in sport.”
Karoonda Reserve is home to the Brentwood Karoonda Sporting Association, which includes sporting clubs such as Brentwood Booragoon Football Club. Bateman Junior Cricket Club and Tingara Netball Club.
