City of Melville shoots for upgraded courts

Hundreds of sportspeople are set to benefit from the resurfacing of hard courts at the City of Melville’s Peter Ellis Multi-Use Courts and Leeming Senior High School, with the works finishing just in time for the upcoming winter netball season.

The work was made possible with an investment of $60,000 from the WA Government, with the Council and Department of Education also contributing to the total project budget of $247,000. The project included the resurfacing of eight multi-use hard courts for netball, tennis and basketball, along with new fencing, gates and some replacement infrastructure.

Mayor, Katy Mair joined with Leeming SHS Principal, Matthew Paton; Leeming Netball Club President, Nic Gascoigne and Local MLA, Stephen Pratt to view the upgraded courts complex.

“Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is something that is really important to me personally and to many others in our community,” the Mayor said.

“We have fantastic sporting facilities and programs across all ages and sporting codes.

“This upgrade and others like that are ongoing at sporting facilities right throughout the City, are part of delivering what our community members want to maintain healthy lifestyles.”
