City of Kingston Council has awarded a contract for a $1.93 million major road reconstruction and drainage upgrade of Beilby Street in Moorabbin.
Beilby Street has been prioritised for rehabilitation following condition inspections and drainage assessments. Council says the works will ensure contemporary levels of service are met and that stormwater assets are better equipped for future rainfall events.
The project includes full reconstruction of the asphalt road pavement, construction of new drainage pipes and pits, and the renewal of surrounding concrete infrastructure such as footpaths, vehicle crossings, pram crossings, kerbs and channels.
Following a competitive public tender process, Council has awarded the contract to Jaydo Construction Pty Ltd.
Mayor, Georgina Oxley said investing in roads and stormwater infrastructure was one of Council’s most important responsibilities.
“Good roads, safe footpaths and reliable drainage are essential services that support our neighbourhoods every day,” Mayor Oxley said.
“This upgrade will not only improve the condition of Beilby Street but will also strengthen the drainage network to better manage stormwater and changing rainfall patterns.”
