City of Canning unveils $1.87m pool upgrade

City of Canning Council is set to reopen various sections of its Cannington Leisureplex following a $1.87 million upgrade of the 13-year-old facility.

Customers will now enjoy upgraded male, female and family/accessible changerooms adjacent to the pool, featuring brand new showers, toilet cubicles, and an adult change bed to better support people with high care needs.

The new showers are equipped with manual temperature controls and water-saving timers, helping users easily set their preferred temperature while also reducing unnecessary water use. Shower sensors have also been installed to further improve efficiency and sustainability.

“The new changerooms look terrific, and I must compliment the contractors on a job well done,” said Mayor, Patrick Hall.

“Our Leisureplexes are important community assets that welcome over 1.5 million visitors every year, and we will continue to ensure that they remain up to the standard expected by our residents. I am sure that visitors will be very pleased by what they see.”

Other improvements include an upgraded First Aid room and structural and cosmetic repairs to the tiled wall in the concourse area.
