Cessnock City Council has secured $88,000 in the latest round of the NSW Government’s Country Passenger Transport Infrastructure Grants Scheme, which will be used to upgrade 11 local bus stops and install two new shelters.
The Council says the funding will also allow the installation of tactile ground indicators, improved kerbside access, better timetable boards and new seating.
“Cessnock City Council has a strong record of securing grant funding so that it can deliver for our community, and the evidence is clear through the significant number of projects we have on the ground,” said Mayor, Jay Suvaal.
“This funding allows us to continue our program of upgrades to local bus stops, making them safer and more accessible for our community.
“I’m sure residents agree the blue bus shelters that have been popping up look fantastic too!”
