City of Moreton Bay Council has welcomed a LNP election commitment to expand the City’s CCTV camera network to protect sporting clubs if elected.
Mayor, Peter Flannery said Council’s CCTV network was a crucial resource that helped prevent crime and ensured the safety of local communities.
“I’m proud to say City of Moreton Bay has one of the largest local government CCTV networks in Queensland with more than 1,800 CCTV cameras, including a number of portable units, in a range of public places,” said Mayor Flannery.
“Council takes a very strong stance on public safety, with CCTV infrastructure providing an important deterrent.
“When it comes to protecting our community assets, this is critical – from decreasing acts of vandalism of clubhouses and playing fields as well as deterring copper theft from sporting clubs.
“By expanding our CCTV network, we’re taking a proactive approach to not just solving crimes but preventing them, making our community safer for everyone.
“Every person in our community deserves to feel safe and this funding commitment for extra CCTV is very welcome.”
“As one of Australia’s fastest growing local government areas, City of Moreton Bay Matters. We need our fair share of funding so we can future proof our city and ensure it’s a place where our community, economy, lifestyles and environment prosper together.”
