The Cassowary Coast Regional Council has come to the rescue of a local school whose premises were destroyed in a devastating flood several years ago.
The Council has approved a Material Change of Use (MCU) application to secure a 30-year lease for The Rainforest School at Frogs Hollow.
The milestone marks the beginning of a new chapter for the school, which can now establish a permanent home at the site.
The Council said the school, which is a government-accredited independent primary school offering the full Australian Curriculum (Prep–Year 6), is a valued part of the community.
The MCU approval safeguards the school’s long-term future and maintains Frogs Hollow as a shared community site.
“This is a wonderful outcome for The Rainforest School and our community,” said Mayor, Teresa Millwood.
“Frogs Hollow will remain a shared space for everyone to enjoy, while also providing a secure, long-term home for a school that plays such an important role in our region.
“This milestone is a testament to what we can achieve when we work together for the benefit of our community. Congratulations to The Rainforest School and everyone involved in making this vision a reality.”
