Campbelltown justice precinct a step closer

The next stage of planning for a new Community and Justice Precinct in Campbelltown is set to get underway with the State and Federal Governments coming to the table with Campbelltown City Council to announce $1.2 million in joint funding to progress the project.

The proposed Community and Justice Precinct is a new style of justice precinct combining Federal and State justice services alongside community services to provide high-value career opportunities and a more supportive experience for those utilising justice services in the rapidly growing Western Sydney region.

“The Community and Justice Precinct would provide significant benefits to the fast growing population of the Macarthur region,” Campbelltown Mayor, George Brticevic said.

“This Precinct would not only meet the justice needs of a growing population but has the potential to transform the Campelltown CBD, attract investment and signal to the wider community that we are open for business,” he said.

The Western Parkland City Authority will facilitate the next stage of planning for the Precinct – the concept design stage – which will involve urban and landscape design, technical studies, open place strategy and environmental effects.

The announcement builds on the $1 million already delivered through the City Deal for the Strategic Business Case, which commenced last year and was completed in May 2021.
