Camden Council has launched a new public campaign to inspire positivity among its residents during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Council says residents will see a range of ‘We’re Stronger Together’ positive messages installed on light pole banners in Camden and Oran Park as well as bus shelters and floor stickers in parks and playgrounds across the Camden area.
Camden Mayor, Therese Fedeli says the colourful campaign aims to remind the community to stay safe, stay positive, stick together and to reach out for support if needed.
“There is even some fun for the young ones too, with a number of the floor stickers taking the form of hopscotch and snakes and ladders games to play on,” she said.
“We know it has been a difficult time and this campaign is a reminder to our community that we are stronger, safer and happier when we stick together.
“It’s been amazing to see residents respond to the call to get vaccinated to keep themselves and their loved ones safe, with more then 90 per cent of our community having already received their first dose.
“We are turning this around and it’s a great feeling. I know I am starting to look to the future and think about the things I can’t wait to do when restrictions ease later this year, and I know many other people are doing and feeling the same. It’s important we do not become complacent and make sure we’re all obeying the restrictions and maintaining strict social distancing and mask wearing measures when we do leave our homes.
As part of the campaign, residents are encouraged to take photos of the positive messages they see on their daily walks or trips through the Camden area and upload them to social media with the hashtag #camdenlove.
“I’ve always maintained Camden is known not only for its beautiful environment but also for its fantastic people. Let’s all make sure we stick together, support our loved ones and our neighbours, remember to concentrate on the good things in our lives and know that we will come through this period,” Mayor Fedeli said.
