Camden Council is inviting the community to help shape a draft framework that will strengthen belonging, inclusion and connection as the local government area continues to grow and welcome new residents.
At last night’s Ordinary Meeting, Council endorsed the Draft Camden Council Framework for Social Cohesion 2026-2030 for public exhibition. Developed following more than 1,600 engagements with residents, community groups, stakeholders and Council staff, the draft framework establishes Council’s first coordinated approach to strengthening belonging, inclusion and participation across Camden.
Built around three key pillars – Belonging, Equal Opportunity, and Acceptance and Harmony – the framework provides a roadmap for fostering stronger community connections over the next four years, said Mayor, Therese Fedeli.
“We’re one of Australia’s fastest-growing communities and thousands of new residents are choosing to call Camden home each year,” she said.
“As we continue to grow, so does the importance of staying connected and ensuring everyone feels welcome and connected. The way our community looks today is very different to what it did just a decade ago, and this framework is about making sure Camden continues to grow in a way that brings people together and supports everyone to feel connected and included.
“We’re taking a proactive approach by planning now for the future community we know is coming, rather than waiting for challenges to arise.”
The Draft Camden Council Framework for Social Cohesion 2026-2030 will go on public exhibition for residents to have their say in the coming weeks.
