The Cairns Taipans have scored a two-year sponsorship extension from Cairns Regional Council.
Council has been a proud sponsor of the Taipans since 2010, and says as the only national sporting team representing Cairns, the Taipans hold a special place in the hearts of locals, especially home games at the Cairns Convention Centre.
“This sponsorship is a slam dunk for the Taipans and the Cairns community,” said Mayor, Amy Eden.
“The Taipans are more than just a basketball team; they are part of the fabric of Cairns.
“Their presence energises our economy, gives the region a national platform and motivates the next generation of local sports stars.
“We hope to see the Orange Army out in force again when the Taipans hit the court for the 2024-25 season!”
Cairns Taipans CEO, Mark Beecroft said the sponsorship helped the club continue to inspire our fans, drive economic growth, and nurture local talent.
“Together, we’re not just playing the game; we’re shaping the future of Cairns,” he said.
