Cairns Regional Council will no longer hold Planning & Environment Committee meetings, allowing for streamlining of the decision-making process, it said today.
Council says the change will increase efficiencies by allowing for a greater scope of items to be tabled and reduce the instances of high-volume agendas for ordinary meetings.
Council has also rescheduled the ordinary meeting from 18 October to 25 October, to precent a clash with the LGAQ Annual Conference.
“Council has resolved to make a number of changes to its ordinary meeting dates for the remainder of 2023, as well as setting the schedule for ordinary meetings during the first quarter of 2024 (prior to the Local Government Election on 16 March 2024),” Council said in a statement.
“Council has also resolved to replace the Planning & Environment Committee meeting with Ordinary meetings which allows a greater scope of agenda items to be tabled, increasing efficiencies.”
The number of meeting per month remains unchanged for 2023.
Ordinary meetings are scheduled for:
- 13 September 2023
- 4 October 2023
- 25 October 2023
- 8 November 2023

- 13 December 2023
- 24 January 2024
- 7 February 2024
