Busselton council hosts waterways info night

City of Busselton Council last week hosted a number of community members, local and state government agencies, and community and academic organisations for a ‘Catchment to Coast’ community information evening focused on local waterways projects.

The event provided an opportunity for people to find out more about how the City and its partner agencies are currently working together to manage and improve the health of local waterways in the Geographe Region. Attendees received the latest updates on the various projects and plans being undertaken by the Council, the Department of Water and Environment Regulation (DWER), GeoCatch and Murdoch University. The presentations covered a wide range of topics, including nutrient  management, sediment removal and feral fish control programs.

“This event formed part of a broader effort by the City and its partners to provide  community with up-to-date information on the management of our local waterways and to provide  opportunities for people to fully understand the latest management strategies and approaches,” said Mayor, Phill Cronin.

The Council says there was a broad range of attendance, with industry professionals and community members all participating in lively discussions.
