Bundaberg scholarship winner eyes teaching future

QLD

Bundaberg Region Youth Scholarship Award winner, Anna Harris, says she will use her award to get ready for university studies.

Anna was recently named as one of the inaugural scholarship recipients under the Bundaberg Regional Council award scheme, which offers financial support for youth from the region who are passionate about their education.

The scholarship program received 31 nominations, with seven recipients awarded based on merit by an Advisory Group made up of representatives from Youth Services Bundaberg, Link & Launch, CQUniversity and Bundaberg Regional Council.

While Anna is currently a Bundaberg State High School year 12 student, she has already undertaken university level study through Central Queensland University’s Start Uni Now program.

She is enrolled to start next year at the CQUniversity Bundaberg campus through the STEPS program and will then progress to study a Bachelor of Primary Education.

Anna said the scholarship would help her with the next stages of her education.

“The scholarship will help me gain access to new technology to ensure that I am able to complete my university studies easier,” she said.

“My teachers inspired me to apply for the scholarship, they thought it would be a good opportunity to help me get a new computer for university.”

Other winners included Taliah ReynoldsMackenzie Blackburn and Christian Lane-Krebs.
