Queensland Premier, Annastacia Palaszczuk, today announced the release of additional tickets to FIFA Women’s World Cup matches set to be hosted in Brisbane when the global event kicks off in 100 days.
The Premier said extra tickets would be made available to all eight Queensland matches, including the Matildas game on 27 July.
“Hosting the Women’s World Cup puts Queensland on the global stage once again as we support some of the world’s best sport’s stars,” said Premier Palaszczuk.
Queenslanders are being encouraged to join in the fun at the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 Unity Pitch, which has just landed in King George Square.
The Unity Pitch will be open to the public until Sunday, 16 April and will host come-and-try programs, football clinics, exhibition matches, and open-to-the-public participation sessions.
“As we count down to this exciting event, I urge sporting fans far and wide to grab a ticket and join in the fun,” the Premier said.
“I’ve always said you can’t be what you can’t see, so this is a great opportunity for young women and girls who aspire to play the game now and in the future.”
Brisbane Lord Mayor, Adrian Schrinner said the month-long festival of football will be a boon for fans and local Brisbane businesses.
“We’re ready to welcome the world to our city for the largest FIFA Women’s World Cup in history,” he said.
“More than 40,000 out-of-state and international visitors will transform the city into a festival of football like no other, filling Brisbane Stadium, local hotels, restaurants and bars.
“With the spotlight on Brisbane in the lead up to the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, this event is another opportunity to cement the city’s reputation as a sporting capital.”
Queensland will be base camp for the Australia, Brazil, Republic of Ireland and Nigeria teams throughout the competition.
The Queensland Government has invested $2.6 million to upgrade venues that will be used as FIFA Women’s World Cup training sites and base camps, including:
- Perry Park, Bowen Hills
- Spencer Park, Newmarket
- Lions Stadium, Richlands
- Goodwin Park, Yeronga
- Moreton Bay Central Sports Complex
- Beerwah Glasshouse Football Club.
Another $11 million has also been invested by the state to upgrade Suncorp Stadium specifically for the event.

“This is an event you simply do not want to miss out on – with tickets back on sale today (11 April), now is your chance to secure your seat and witness history in the making.”
Brisbane/Meaanjin will host eight matches:
- five Group stage matches (including a Matildas Group match)
- one Round-of-16 Knock-Out match
- one Quarter-Final
- Third-Place Play-off
Sixty-four matches will be played across 10 stadia in nine host cities from 20 July to 20 August 2023.
