The Australian Bushfire Building Conference and the Asbestos & Hazardous Materials Management Conference are joining forces this year for a collaborative event in the Blue Mountains.
The first-of-its-kind conference is titled Full Cycle 2025: From Design to Disposal – Designing, Building and Managing Disaster Risk and Hazardous Materials in a Changing Climate.
The three-day conference and expo is hosted by Blue Mountains City Council’s Blue Mountains Planetary Health Initiative in Katoomba from 20 – 22 November.
“In this time of increasing natural disasters, we must respond urgently to how we design, build and live to protect human health and restore planetary health for current and future generations,” said Mayor, Mark Greenhill.
“It’s crucial that we work together, pool our resources and share our knowledge to ensure the best in innovation, new ideas and progress.
“This exceptional conference brings together local and international expertise in the areas of bushfire building, as well as asbestos and hazard materials management.”
Full Cycle 2025 includes a community expo showcasing the latest in design and technology for whole system change and will provide the latest insights, regulatory updates and practical strategies for safety and sustainability in the face of growing risks. Natural disasters include fire, flood and heatwave, while hazardous materials range from mould, plastics, to asbestos and engineered stone.
Experts attending the three-day conference comprise building and material designers, producers, urban planners, constructionworkers, environmental and emergency management teams, regulators, insurers, hazardous materials experts and members of the community.
The event schedule is:
Day 1 – Thursday 20 November: Industry Conference
Day 2 – Friday 21 November: Industry Conference
Day 3 – Saturday 22nd November: Community Expo
