Blue Mountains councillor steps down

Blue Mountains City Council Deputy Mayor, Brendan Christie, has tendered his resignation.

Councillor Christie (pictured), who has been on extended leave for personal reasons since 2022, was first elected to the Council in 2012.

Mayor, Mark Greenhill, will take a Mayoral Minute to tomorrow’s Council Meeting to thank Councillor Christie for his service.

“We wish him well, after more than 10 years of service to the City,” Mayor Greenhill said.

The Mayoral Minute will seek to write to the NSW Minister for Local Government, Ron Hoenig, that he make an Order under section 294(2) of the Local Government Act that the vacancy remain unfilled until the 2024 elections.
