Bega Valley art centre works halted after Lloyd Group collapse

Bega Valley Shire Council says work on the region’s South East Centre for Contemporary Art will be paused following news that developer, Lloyd Group, had entered voluntary administration late last week.

In a statement, the Council said it had been notified on Friday. morning of the company’s dire financial situation.

Council’s Director Community, Environment and Planning, Emily Harrison said work on the major art centre would be paused while the administrator reviews the project and determines the next steps.

“While the gallery is nearing completion, unfortunately this news means our community opening event, which was planned for 29 April, will be delayed,” Ms Harrison said.

“Once we receive a full briefing from the administrator and we know the impact on the completion of the build, we’ll be able to set a new date for the opening and update the community.

“Fortunately, no other Bega Valley Shire Council projects are affected.”
