Baw Baw Shire welcomes new chief executive

Baw Baw Shire Council has announced the appointment of Tilla Buden as its new Chief Executive Officer.

In a statement, the Council said Ms Buden (pictured) brings extensive leadership experience and a strong track record in community development and social policy, making her well-placed to guide Baw Baw Shire through its next chapter of growth and development.

She has held executive roles at Bayside City Council, the City of Greater Dandenong and Yarra Ranges Council, with expertise spanning organisational leadership, sustainable service design, major project delivery and community-centred innovation.

Mayor, Danny Goss said the Council was delighted to welcome Ms Buden to the role.

“This is a pivotal time for Baw Baw. With a new Council group, a new Council Plan and now a new CEO, we are setting the stage for a strong and vibrant future. Tilla’s leadership skills, strategic vision and genuine commitment to community will be invaluable in helping shape that future,” Mayor Goss said.

“As CEO, Ms Buden will lead the organisation’s dedicated staff, oversee delivery of the Council Plan, and work in partnership with Councillors, community and stakeholders to ensure Baw Baw Shire continues to thrive as a great place to live, work and visit.”

Ms Buden said she was excited to join Baw Baw Shire at such a dynamic moment in its journey.

“I’m honoured to be appointed as CEO of Baw Baw Shire Council,” she said.

“Council plays an important role in supporting the health and wellbeing of our communities through quality, innovative and community-focused services and infrastructure.

“I look forward to partnering with the Mayor, Councillors, our staff and the community to deliver on the vision of a sustainable, healthy and thriving Shire.

“Collaboration with staff, local communities, partners and government will remain central to how I lead and the outcomes we achieve together.”

Mayor Goss also thanked John Bennie for his support and dedication during his interim CEO appointment.

“We would like to acknowledge and sincerely thank Mr John Bennie for his leadership as Interim CEO since March. We are confident that a supportive and thorough handover will take place over the coming weeks as we prepare for Tilla to transition into the role,” the Mayor said.

Ms Buden will formally commence in the role on 17 November.
