Baw Baw council welcomes funding to light up local reserve

Baw Baw Shire Council has welcomed a $250,000 funding commitment from the Victorian Government to upgrade oval lighting at the Buln Buln Recreation Reserve.

Minister for Development Victoria and Precincts, Harriet Shing (pictured third from right with community and council representatives), made the announcement last week when she visited the Buln Buln Recreation Reserve.

The announcement outlined a $250,000 Victorian Government funding commitment towards a $350,000 oval lighting upgrade at the reserve.

Deputy Mayor, Tricia Jones welcomed the support from the Victorian Government.

“This project will include four new 25 metre towers with LED fittings, improving visibility and usability of the field particularly throughout the cooler months,” she said.

“This announcement means that the project can be delivered in the upcoming 2025/26 financial year and is another project in the Rural Recreation Reserve Master Plan that can now be completed in partnership with the Victorian Government.

“This is a great outcome for the Buln Buln community.”

The reserve is home to a number of vibrant local sporting clubs including the Buln Buln Football Netball Club, the Buln Buln Junior Football Club and the Buln Buln Cricket Club, with over 15 teams between them.

The lighting upgrade will provide oval users with safer training conditions and enable night games to be scheduled at the reserve.
